1. The moderator Lisa's first question to the members of the debate is: Why do people own guns?
Write down what Andrea, Maxwell, and Jessica believe is the reason for this.
- Andrea means people have guns for hunting and something like this. And to protect themselves and of cause in they are involved to violence.
- Maxwell means people specially men have guns so they feel more macho and make their self-confidence stronger. And because the Americans are afraid of everyone and with a gun they are safe.
- Jessica means woman’s has guns to protect themselves, they are afraid when they walk down the street. They have guns because they are paranoid.
2. Jessica says that many Americans want to have a gun because of the media and films. Do you agree with Jessica? Why? Why not?
- Yes because they feel they can be like the people in the media and films.
3. Rhajik talks a lot about the military when he is talking about guns. What does he say about the military and their need and use of guns?
- Rhajik means the military use guns to take care of people.
4. Maxwell names some facts about guns. Name at least one of them. Comment on the fact.
- There isn’t any control with the guns. There are a lot of people who buys a gun, its maybe like 3 thousand people at one year. And a lot of the Americans, like ten thousand are going to be killed with a gun.
5. Maxwell says that the reason why criminals have guns is because the citizens are armed. Do you think that is right? How do you think it is in Denmark?
- I think that’s right, because the criminals are afraid of getting shoot of the citizens.
- In Denmark isn’t it legal to own a gun, so if the criminals have a gun isn’t because of the citizens, so it’s because of other criminals. And so people are afraid of them, so they feel more power full.
6. What does Andrea think should be changed in America's gun law?
- People should have a license to have a gun and use it.
7. Rhajik says that power should be returned to the people, the individual. It should be totally legal to own guns. No one should rule. We should be responsible for our own lives. What do you think about this?
- I think we should be responsible for our own lives. But I don’t think no one should rule. I don’t think it should be totally legal. It will be to dangers if we don’t have any rules. And if you have rules everyone knows how you need to be.
8. In the end of the debate, all the debate members are asked to say in short what they think about guns. Choose at least two of the members and write down their opinion.
- Andrea thinks it shouldn’t be legal to own a gun. And that’s never going to happen. We should cut dawn on the people who owns a gun and if you own a gun you need to know how you use it, so we can stop all the deed’s who not needed.
- Jessica think we need to show people what the consequences is and only use the guns in the most necessary situations
9. Lisa ends the debate by giving the Americans an advice about guns. What does she say?
- When or if you decide to have a gun just think about it, before you get your passion away.
10. Who do you agree with the most of the five members of the debate and why?
- I’m most agreeing with Andrea. Because they things she said is very correct. Specially that one with “we should cut down on the people who owns a gun and if you own a gun you need to know how you use it, so we can stop all the deed’s who not needed”.
Good answers :-)
